Prosecuting a Lawyer – apply.army.mod.uk/roles/army-legal-services/legal-officer?cid=jobb5279800108 Step 1 As a lawyer, you will spend 9 months of training before assuming your first legal role. During the first two weeks, you will complete your initial training and administration at the Armed Forces Legal Services Directorate. Army Legal Services is a specialized service that provides military legal support, and we will be interviewing soon. They will operate to the same high standards as any civil lawyer, but there will be opportunities and challenges that few regular firms can offer. Step 2 You will then attend the Qualified Officer Course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. You will learn basic military skills, study tactics and take on a range of tasks to direct and command your skills. Step 4 You will then spend three months with a combat or combat support unit, learning about the military and gaining life experience as a junior officer, all from a non-legal perspective. This is an important part of the training and gives you the opportunity to learn more about the organization you will be advising on. Step 3 You will then return to the Armed Forces Legal Service Directorate to complete your legal training, which will take approximately 6 weeks. You will learn all about the areas of law you need as a lawyer, including military law, the law of armed conflict, international humanitarian law and intelligence law.
